About Arpana

This memorial page was created in the memory of our beloved daughter, Arpana Gambiraopet, 24, born on December 04, 1986 and passed away on Nov 12, 2010.

Arpana Gambiraopet is identical twin daughter of Ravinder and Anitha Gambiraopet . To the parents, twin sisters were like two peas in a pod and they were the life, joys, dreams, pride and purpose of their living. On the fateful day of November 12th 2010, around 4.50 pm in a blink of an eye all those dreams were shattered when in a devastating accident a truck collided with the car in which the twin sisters were travelling. They were passengers sitting in the rear seat of their friend’s car. Arpana Gambiraopet was killed on the same day and her twin sister Archana was left behind paralyzed with spinal cord injury C4C5.

Her Life

Arpana was a bright and beautiful young woman who touched the lives of everyone she encountered. Her boundless sweetness was matched by her intelligence and drive. Arpana and her identical twin sister Archana were academically brilliant students and star athletes and both were National level basketball players in India. For their striking performance in sports they were awarded with the title “Twin Pearls”.

Recognizing the contribution of Arpana the Murray State University have awarded her with “Campus Impact Award” for all round achievement and having played an active role in the advancement of diversity on campus through her efforts. Arpana assisted her research professor Dr. Loganathan in preparation and publication of the book “ Global Contamination Trends of Persistent Organic Chemicals” for which she received acknowledgements and laurels from her professors, alumni and the President of the Murray State University for the contribution towards the book.

Arpana future was so incredibly promising and the world would have been better for her contributions.

We as parents cannot imagine a more deserving honor than this. We are proud of our daughters for their perseverance and sheer hard work through which they achieved so many laurels in their short period of vibrant life.

If we could have a lifetime wish
A dream that would come true
We’d pray to God with all our hearts
For yesterday and You
A thousand words can’t bring you back
We know because we’ve tried
Neither will a thousand tears
We know because we’ve tried
You left behind our broken hearts
And happy memories too
But we never wanted memories
We only wanted you

Although Arpana is no longer with us physically, she will always be with us spiritually. Her identical twin sister perseveres and honors Arpana’s legacy through her own strength and determination.

We will always love you and miss you, Arpana. You will forever be a part of our lives. For nothing loved is ever lost, and you were loved so much!
